The da Vinci system represents the 4th generation of robotic technology, taking surgical treatment to an entirely new level. The new system is smaller and more precise, with higher quality 3D capabilities enabling the surgeon to better perform their task which leads to quicker recovery times.
The new Xi system features 3D high-definition visualization, providing the clearest possible view of the surgical site. The da Vinci system incorporates several major components, including a surgeon console and surgery unit, visualization systems and wristed endoscopic instruments. Although the system is called "robotic," it actually cannot operate independently, and is fully controlled by the surgeon. The innovative medical instruments and high-definition visualization system are the main advantages of the robotic da Vinci system over the standard laparoscopic system.
