Internal Medicine Division
The Division of Cardiology at the Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center cares for the complete spectrum of heart patients, from critically ill patients (such as heart attack patients); to chronic patients who require ongoing therapeutic monitoring, or rehabilitation; to patients seeking preventive care.

Excellence in cardiac medicine

Recognized as a local, regional, and international center of cardiology care, the Division offers the full array of diagnostic, consultative, and therapeutic subspecialties with progressive medical modalities and state-of-the-art equipment. The cardiology units work in concert to provide comprehensive, quality, personalized care.

Emergency care

Emergency intervention is available around the clock for severe cardiological events such as heart attack (myocardial infarction), congestive heart failure, severe arrhythmia, or other conditions that require immediate care, monitoring, diagnosis, and treatment.

Chronic care

Chronic patients with persistent cardiac conditions, such as angina pectoris, heart failure, heart arrhythmia, or other diseases receive individualized care from cardiology specialists via outpatient clinic services, the cardiac catheterization lab, or the cardiology inpatient unit.

Sophisticated catheterization treatment

The catheterization and interventional cardiology unit provides the complete range of diagnostic and treatment services for coronary disease, valve disease, and structural heart disease. Patients are treated in state-of-the-art catheterization facilities, featuring leading edge equipment, such as catheterization instruments to treat and widen blocked blood vessels, stent implants, and valve implants.

Maintaining quality of life for heart failure patients

The Department of Cardiology specializes in treating the severe, ongoing problems of heart failure patients who return periodically for clinical stabilization and diagnostics.

Partial hospitalization

The partial hospitalization unit monitors, stabilizes, and treats heart failure patients in a day clinic that interacts with all of the department's diagnostic and treatment units to avoid full hospital admission.

Expert treatment of arrhythmia

TASMC specialists are renowned both locally and worldwide for treating the range of arrhythmias, from atrial fibrillations to disturbances in the electrical heart conduction system, ventricular tachycardia, and cardiac arrest. State-of-the-art monitoring equipment and treatment devices, such as catheters, pacemakers, and defibrillators help physicians provide optimal patient care.

Comprehensive assessment and therapy for structural heart diseases

Patients with heart valve disease and structural heart diseases receive outstanding diagnostics, monitoring, and care from expert cardiologists using sophisticated equipment, including heart CT, echocardiography, and heart catheterization. For patients who cannot undergo surgical treatment, the Division of Cardiology offers catheterization interventions which have been proven to be highly effective.

Meticulous evaluation and treatment

Patients can rest assured that their conditions will be thoroughly diagnosed. Typical evaluations include electrocardiogram (ECG) testing, blood tests, echocardiography for evaluation of heart and valve functioning, and, if needed, cardiac mapping to assess the electrical activity of the heart.

Active prevention and rehabilitation

The Division of Cardiology provides ongoing monitoring and active rehabilitation therapy for recovering patients. Heart disease prevention services offer patients instruction, direction and training on preventing heart disease and avoiding recurrences of heart incidents.
