The department has 32 inpatient beds in single- and double-occupancy rooms, as well as a high-dependency room for patients requiring close monitoring and intensive nursing care.
The multidisciplinary team includes physicians specializing in internal medicine and geriatrics, some of whom also specialize in palliative medicine, medical residents, nurses trained in geriatrics and oncology, and allied health professionals specializing in physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nutrition, social work, speech and language therapy, and psychology.
The department primarily treats patients over the age of 70 who require hospitalization for acute medical conditions, with an emphasis on comprehensive, multidisciplinary geriatric care. It also provides palliative care for patients with life-threatening illnesses who require supportive treatment, regardless of age.
The department is committed to providing high-quality multidisciplinary care through a compassionate and respectful approach, emphasizing patient autonomy and ongoing support for patients and their families.
