Who We Are
Ichilov AID is the humanitarian arm of Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov), Israel’s largest tertiary-care university hospital. Led by Dr. Ronit Almog, senior obstetrician and gynecologist, we deploy multidisciplinary medical teams in partnership with local health authorities and Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Our focus: providing expert patient care while collaborating with local teams to reduce morbidity and strengthen healthcare where it’s needed most.
To date, we’ve sent delegations to Myanmar, Liberia, India, Guatemala, Brazil, Nepal, the Philippines, and more. In each location, we:
- Establish temporary health camps where Israeli and local medical teams work side by side
- Provide tailored medical services (women’s health, neonatal care, chronic-disease screening, vision services, etc.)
- Deliver lectures and hands-on training—joint rounds, skill-sharing workshops, and development of context-specific clinical protocols
- Donate essential equipment and ensure its operation through local training
- Maintain continuity by returning to past sites, monitoring outcomes, and supporting remote consultations via telemedicine
This model of mutual cooperation empowers local providers, builds lasting capacity, and brings tangible improvements to healthcare where it’s needed most.
Our Origins
In 2018, Ichilov launched the “Bringing Lives into the World” initiative to cut maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality in developing countries. As families began arriving with children of all ages—and even elderly relatives—we recognized the need for a broader scope. Thus, Ichilov AID was born: a family-centred humanitarian program operating across diverse regions of the world (Asia, America, and beyond).
