The Joint Commission International (JCI) Seal of Approval—an international benchmark of medical excellence—has been awarded to Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov) following its successful completion of a comprehensive JCI survey with distinction.

This week, Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center received the JCI accreditation for the fourth time, granted by the American-based Joint Commission International, the organization whose standards are used to evaluate the world’s leading hospitals for quality and patient safety.

Under the accreditation requirements, hospitals are required to undergo a thorough evaluation every three years.

The JCI accreditation process establishes rigorous standards for quality and patient safety and requires a strong, organization-wide commitment to patient-centered care. It mandates continuous improvement across all levels of the hospital, including infrastructure, staff training programs, implementation of professional clinical protocols, adoption of advanced technologies, research, and enhancement of the patient and family experience.
The preparation for the survey was led by the Quality and Safety Division and the Regulation and Control Unit of Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center, headed by Dr. Hagit Padova.

During the survey week, conducted in December 2025, a team of five senior JCI surveyors from various countries conducted an in-depth assessment of all these areas throughout the hospital. At the conclusion of the survey, the team summarized what they described as an exceptionally small number of findings in a formal report, which will serve as the basis for continued improvement and advancement.

Once again, JCI determined that the quality and safety of care at Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov) rank among the highest in the world.

Receiving the JCI accreditation constitutes official international recognition of the quality of medical care provided to approximately two million patients each year and once again highlights the exceptional professionalism and capabilities of the hospital’s 9,000 dedicated employees.
