The Pediatric Rheumatology Service at Dana-Dwek Children’s Hospital, Ichilov Medical Center, treats a wide range of diseases and conditions involving inflammation of the joints, muscles, skin, and bones in infants, children, and adolescents.
Conditions treated by the Pediatric Rheumatology Service:
- Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) and its various subtypes
Connective tissue diseases, including:
- Lupus
- Systemic scleroderma
- Localized scleroderma
- Sjögren’s syndrome
- Juvenile Dermatomyositis
Vasculitis – diseases caused by inflammation of the blood vessels, including:
- Henoch-Schönlein Purpura (HSP)
- Kawasaki disease
- Behçet’s disease
- ANCA-associated vasculitis
- Polyarteritis Nodosa
Recurrent inflammatory fever syndromes, including:
- Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF)
- PFAPA syndrome
- Rheumatic fever
Musculoskeletal conditions, including:
- Fibromyalgia and amplified pain syndromes
- Growing pains
- Joint hypermobility
Services offered by the Pediatric Rheumatology Service
- Treatment with anti-inflammatory medications, including biologic therapies, steroids, and chemotherapy.
- Steroid injections into the joints under sedation, provided by the Dream Team and the Anesthesiology team at Dana-Dwek Children’s Hospital.
- The Pediatric Rheumatology Service works closely with all units at Dana-Dwek Children’s Hospital to provide diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of conditions. This collaboration enables patients to receive care from specialists in additional fields and, when needed, from a multidisciplinary team.
- New! Advot Clinic – a multidisciplinary clinic for children and adolescents coping with complex pain conditions that affect multiple areas of daily functioning.
How to Schedule an Appointment
- Treatment is provided upon referral from a community physician or the medical team at Dana-Dwek Children’s Hospital.
- Services require a health fund authorization (Form 17) or payment according to Ministry of Health rates.
- Please send the referral, and a service representative will contact you within 5 business days to schedule an appointment.
