Pediatric and Adolescent Rehabilitation

The Pediatric and Adolescent Rehabilitation Center at Dana-Dwek Children’s Hospital, Ichilov, is dedicated to children and adolescents who require a continuum of rehabilitative care following prolonged hospitalization or surgery, or as a result of illness or injury.

The center includes an inpatient rehabilitation department, a rehabilitation day program, an intensive treatment program, and outpatient rehabilitation clinics, and serves children from across Israel.

Our team supports children and their families throughout the different stages of rehabilitation, including the transition from hospitalization back to life in the community, and, in some cases, the transition into adulthood.

Who does the center treat?

The center treats children and adolescents aged 0–18 with functional impairments, including those requiring:

  • Rehabilitation following an accident or trauma
  • Rehabilitation for chronic orthopedic and neurological conditions
  • Rehabilitation following neurosurgical procedures
  • Rehabilitation related to oncological conditions
  • Rehabilitation for pain syndromes and functional decline

Why is rehabilitation so important?

Our goal: To enable every child to live an active, independent, and fulfilling life—to participate in school, family, community, and society, both as a child and as an adult in the future.

Rehabilitation focuses on abilities, not limitations. Together with the family, we develop a personalized rehabilitation plan that builds on each child’s strengths and is based on their individual needs and meaningful life goals.

How do we do it?

  • Personalized care – We tailor an individual treatment plan to each child and their specific needs, incorporating both individual and group therapy and exercises.
  • Integrated care – We provide holistic care through a multidisciplinary team.
  • Multidimensional rehabilitation – We take a broad approach that considers all aspects of the child’s and family’s needs, providing support throughout the day and after discharge from the hospital.
  • Continuous learning and innovation – We provide ongoing professional training for our clinical teams and conduct research projects aimed at advancing rehabilitation both in the hospital and in the community.
  • Technological leadership – We incorporate advanced rehabilitation technologies, including virtual reality therapy and wearable technology.
  • Collaboration – We work closely with teams across Dana-Dwek Children’s Hospital and Ichilov Medical Center, as well as with leading medical and academic institutions in Israel and abroad, including Tel Aviv University, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in the United States, and BC Children’s Hospital in Canada.
