Internal Medicine Division

The Infectious Diseases unit of the Tel Aviv Medical Center provides consultation, diagnosis and treatment for patients with infectious diseases in all hospital departments. The unit staff supervises and controls the use of advanced and broad spectrum antibiotics, and together with the infection control nurses deals with prevention of hospital acquired infections.

In addition, the unit surveys and monitors the resistance of bacteria to antibiotics in the hospital and educates the wards' staff on isolation of patients and appropriate infection control techniques in order to prevent the spread of resistant bacteria.
The unit's team educates and gives lectures to students and medical and nursing staff on all topics of infectious diseases and conducts clinical and basic science research studies.

The unit provides approximately 15,000 consultations to some 5000 hospitalized patients per year and provides services to approximately 3500 prospective travelers at the ”MALRAM” clinic (Medical Services for Travelers) consisting of advise and administration of immunizations to people traveling overseas.
