Bringing surgery into the next dimension The Levin Center for 3D Printing and Surgical Innovation develops and delivers next-generation 3D solutions to help perfect personalized patient care.
Our Mission
The Levin Center for Surgical Innovation empowers surgeons to plan and perform personalized operations using advanced technologies – with a focus on 3D-based tools such as 3D printing and augmented/mixed/virtual reality (AR/VR/XR).
Our goal is to improve surgical precision, efficiency, and outcomes – and to make cutting-edge tools accessible to all surgeons.
Our Three Pillars of Activity
We invite surgeons to share clinical cases for virtual 3D surgical planning. Patient imaging (CT/MRI) is converted into detailed, interactive, full-color 3D models that allow the clinical team to deeply understand each patient’s unique anatomy and pathology.
This process often includes the printing of a full-scale 1:1 anatomical model, the design and production of custom surgical guides, and – when needed – the development of patient-specific implants, all aimed at implementing the virtual plan with high accuracy in the operating room.
The service includes:
- Virtual 3D surgical planning
- Patient-specific 3D-printed surgical guides
- Surgery assisted by augmented reality (AR) technology
- Design and production of custom-made implants from titanium and PEEK
- Design and production of orthopedic assistive devices (Orthotics)
In parallel with ongoing evaluation studies of our clinical services, the center leads in-depth research on complex bone reconstruction, with an emphasis on load-bearing bones following extensive resections.
These research projects are carried out in collaboration with leading academic institutions in Israel and worldwide.
The Levin Center serves as a professional bridge between medtech companies and clinical teams, leading the integration of surgical innovation into the operating room.
Rather than having companies independently seek out clinicians – often without a deep understanding of clinical needs or hospital structure – we offer a guided, informed approach: matching the right professionals, identifying clinical needs, and providing hands-on support within the medical system.
The center helps remove regulatory barriers, initiates preclinical and clinical studies, and facilitates collaboration with hospital administrative bodies – all to help companies focus on product development and accelerate the journey from concept to clinical implementation in a holistic, responsible, and high-impact way.
