We’re looking for an exceptional Data Science Team Lead to found, recruit, and lead our new Ichilov-Next team — a group dedicated to short-term, high-impact research collaborations with clinicians across the hospital.

Our mission is to accelerate clinical research through data — enabling doctors and scientists to make evidence-based discoveries faster, smarter, and with real-world impact. We work closely with clinical teams, leveraging EMR data, labs data, statistical analysis and
more to answer pressing medical questions and improve patient outcomes.

If you’re a research-driven data scientist with strong analytical skills, a deep understanding
of healthcare data, and the leadership qualities to guide a talented team, we’d love to meet
you.

Responsibilities
● Build, recruit, and lead the Ichilov-Next team, shaping its culture, vision, and methodologies.
● Oversee multiple short-term, data-driven clinical research projects.
● Work closely with clinicians and researchers to translate clinical questions into data analysis plans and actionable insights.
● Provide hands-on analytical guidance — including study design, statistical modeling, feature engineering, and interpretation of complex datasets.
● Establish best practices for data exploration, model validation, and reproducible research.
● Guide and mentor team members, fostering a culture of scientific excellence and collaboration.
● Collaborate with other R&D teams to ensure efficient data access and processing.
● Contribute to the center’s long-term research and innovation strategy.

Requirements
● PhD or MSc in Data Science, Statistics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field (PhD strongly preferred).
● Strong research background, ideally in healthcare, medical data, or biomedical domains.
● Proven experience (2+ years) in leading data science or research teams.
● Proven ability to recruit, mentor, and scale high-performing teams.
● Advanced proficiency in Python or R, with experience in statistical inference, modeling, and advanced data analysis using modern tools.
● Deep understanding of data exploration, study design, and hypothesis testing.
● Experience working with clinical or healthcare data — EMR, imaging, or lab data — is a significant advantage.
● Excellent communication skills and the ability to work directly with clinicians and hospital stakeholders.
● Passion for applying data and science to improve healthcare and patient outcomes.
