At I-Next Data, the AI innovation center of Tel Aviv Sourasky (Ichilov) Medical Center, we build and deploy production-ready LLM applications that integrate directly into clinical workflows. Our mission is to become one of the world’s most impactful healthcare AI hubs. We are a team of 35+ developers focused on production within a group of ~45 employees.
Role Overview
We’re seeking a generative AI production engineer for a new GenAI team. You will deploy and serve proprietary language models. In this role, you’ll automate data pipelines, embed evaluation frameworks, and own the observability stack, delivering low-latency, cost-efficient generative AI services that scale from prototype to production.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy models via APIs, Bedrock, Azure OpenAI or self-hosted LLMs; containerize and monitor (Docker, K8s, LangFuse, Phoenix) with support from our dedicated DevOps team.
- Orchestrate multi-step pipelines.
- Develop and integrate evaluation frameworks with custom metrics.
- Own the end-to-end LLM system lifecycle
- Optimize latency vs accuracy, cost per 1K tokens, and context-window management.
Skills and Experience
- 4+ years of experience building production-grade systems.
- Strong Python proficiency.
- Experience working with modern developer tools and IDEs such as Cursor or similar
- Strong design thinking and problem-solving mindset.
- Quick learner, adaptable to new frameworks and workflows.
- Ability to work independently with a sense of responsibility.

- Prototype and integrate agentic workflows (e.g., extractors, summarizers), build RESTful APIs, and (optionally) develop lightweight UIs for clinicians.
- Backend development primarily in Python, including data pipelines, API services, and integration with LLM frameworks.
- Deployment: Docker/Kubernetes, cloud integration, CI/CD.
- Evaluation and observability: monitoring, logging, and experimentation (e.g., LangFuse).
Skills and Experience
- 5+ years of experience in full-stack software development.

We’re looking for an exceptional Data Science Team Lead to found, recruit, and lead our new Ichilov-Next team — a group dedicated to short-term, high-impact research collaborations with clinicians across the hospital.
Our mission is to accelerate clinical research through data — enabling doctors and scientists to make evidence-based discoveries faster, smarter, and with real-world impact. We work closely with clinical teams, leveraging EMR data, labs data, statistical analysis and
more to answer pressing medical questions and improve patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
● Build, recruit, and lead the Ichilov-Next team, shaping its culture, vision, and methodologies.
● Oversee multiple short-term, data-driven clinical research projects.
● Work closely with clinicians and researchers to translate clinical questions into data analysis plans and actionable insights.
● Provide hands-on analytical guidance — including study design, statistical modeling, feature engineering, and interpretation of complex datasets.
● Establish best practices for data exploration, model validation, and reproducible research.
● Guide and mentor team members, fostering a culture of scientific excellence and collaboration.
● Collaborate with other R&D teams to ensure efficient data access and processing.
● Contribute to the center’s long-term research and innovation strategy.
Requirements
● PhD or MSc in Data Science, Statistics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field (PhD strongly preferred).
● Strong research background, ideally in healthcare, medical data, or biomedical domains.
● Proven experience (2+ years) in leading data science or research teams.
● Proven ability to recruit, mentor, and scale high-performing teams.
● Advanced proficiency in Python or R, with experience in statistical inference, modeling, and advanced data analysis using modern tools.
● Deep understanding of data exploration, study design, and hypothesis testing.
● Experience working with clinical or healthcare data — EMR, imaging, or lab data — is a significant advantage.
● Excellent communication skills and the ability to work directly with clinicians and hospital stakeholders.
● Passion for applying data and science to improve healthcare and patient outcomes.

Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in team management or technical leadership.

- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD, and cloud-native development.
- Strong SQL skills; experience with NoSQL or streaming platforms is an advantage.
- Experience designing and operating production data pipelines and ETLs.

We are seeking a highly motivated full-time data engineer who is enthusiastic about working with extensive clinical data sources that feed clinical applications in production.
Please apply if you are/have:
• Enthusiastic about data, love challenging medical projects, and want to make a direct impact on the healthcare ecosystem.
• Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Information Systems Engineering, or equivalent. If you don’t have a degree but your eyes shine when writing code – please also apply.
• Over 6 years of hands-on experience as a data engineer.
• Over 4 years of hands-on experience in Python programming.
• Proficiency in working with SQL (experience with NoSQL databases is an advantage).
• Experience with Git.
• Experience creating data pipelines in the cloud (AWS is an advantage).
• Prior experience working with real-world clinical data – a major advantage.
• Strong team player with the ability to take initiative and work autonomously, along with excellent communication skills.
