The Pediatric ENT Unit specializes in the diagnosis, consultation, and surgical treatment of children up to the age of 16 with a wide range of ear, nose, and throat (ENT) conditions.
The unit performs a broad range of surgical procedures, with high availability and minimal waiting times.
The team includes senior physicians with specialized training in pediatric ENT and extensive expertise and experience, enabling them to treat even the most complex cases.
Team
The Pediatric ENT Unit at Dana-Dwek Children’s Hospital treats children with a wide range of ear, nose, throat, head, and neck conditions, including:
- Congenital and genetic disorders affecting the ears, nose, throat, head, and neck
- Speech and hearing disorders, including voice problems such as hoarseness
- Sleep disorders caused by upper airway obstruction, including obstructive sleep apnea
- Children with tracheostomies
- Chronic ear infections and their complications
- Chronic sinusitis
- Nasal breathing difficulties
- Benign and malignant tumors of the ear, nose, throat, head, and neck
- Other pediatric ENT infections
- Swallowing and salivation disorders
- Upper airway examinations using fiber-optic endoscopy
Surgical Procedures
- Adenoid and tonsil surgery for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea
- Ear tube insertion
- Cochlear implant and BAHA surgery
- Endoscopic nasal and sinus surgery
- Surgical support for cleft palate procedures
- Vocal cord and tracheal surgery using open or endoscopic techniques
- Surgery of the eardrum, ossicles, middle ear, and mastoid
- Examinations and minor procedures under sedation with the Dream Team, including ear examination and cleaning, tongue-tie release, fiber-optic airway examination, minor biopsies, and other procedures
Specialized Clinics
The unit operates specialized clinics in collaboration with other medical units, with an emphasis on multidisciplinary care:
- Pediatric Voice and Swallowing Clinic
- Pediatric Hearing Disorders Clinic
- Pediatric Airway Clinic – dedicated to children with upper airway conditions (excluding pulmonary conditions), particularly children before or after tracheostomy. The clinic’s multidisciplinary team includes ENT specialists, anesthesiologists, intensive care specialists, and a speech-language pathologist.
