Nobel Laureate Professor Michael Levitt is an American-British-Israeli biophysicist who was born in South Africa.  He is a Professor of Cancer Research and Structural Biology at the Stanford University School of Medicine, and his research is in computational biology.  Levitt received the 2013 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, together with Martin Karplus and Arieh Warshel, for "the development of multi-scale models for complex chemical systems." He is also a member of the US National Academy of Sciences and British Royal Society.
