Anesthesia, Pain and Intensive Care Division

The Intensive Care Unit treats a variety of difficult and complex patients, including victims of various types of trauma, motor vehicle accidents, gunshot wounds and stabbings, patients requiring artificial respiration, and patients after complex surgeries who are treated in the unit until their condition is stabilized. The staff of the unit is also responsible for resuscitation and stabilization of difficult patients in all departments of the hospital, as needed. During terrorist attacks, the unit receives and treats the severely injured.

The professional and highly skilled staff of the unit is aided by sophisticated, modern equipment designed for treating complex, difficult patients and patients whose condition is susceptible to sudden changes and thus require close, around-the-clock, medical observation. In addition to treating complex patients, the Intensive Care Unit serves as the unique center for receiving patients from around the country who suffer from acute liver insufficiency and who require the artificial external liver support system (MARC).

The unit houses 12 beds. Hospitalized patients receive physical therapy and nutritional services and their families receive support services from the social worker.
