Internal Medicine Division

The Division of Hematology provides expert care for patients with a variety of blood disorders, including malignant hematological diseases, such as acute and chronic leukemias, MDS (myelodysplastic syndromes), multiple myeloma, Hodgkin's and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, as well as benign blood diseases, such as anemias and coagulation disorders.
Patients are treated in the Hematology outpatient clinic, featuring a range of subspecialties, ambulatory care facilities, a clinical ward, a bone marrow transplant (BMT) unit, and laboratories.
The Division of Hematology is affiliated with the Sackler Faculty of Medicine of the Tel Aviv University for leading-edge scientific and clinical research and ongoing medical education.

Inpatient services

The inpatient department is a national referral center for patients with malignant blood disorders requiring intensive chemotherapy and bone marrow transplantation.

World-class care is provided to patients with clinical disorders such as:

  • Acute leukemia (AML and ALL)
  • Aggressive lymphomas and Hodgkin's disease requiring intensive chemotherapy
  • Multiple myeloma

Treatment options include:

  • The latest chemotherapy regimens for newly diagnosed patients and for patients with relapsed disease
  • Experimental chemotherapies for patients with refractory disease
  • Stem cell transplantation, either autologous or allogeneic

Quality facilities

Most patients are treated in single rooms equipped with HEPA filters for cleansing the air and reducing the incidence of infections, as well as facilities for intensive care.

Treatment team

A multi-disciplinary team of hematologists, transplant specialists, nurses, infectious disease specialists, dieticians, psychologists, music therapists, and social workers provide the highest quality clinical care for patients.
Patients receive personalized care from the department’s dedicated nursing staff who are highly trained, experienced professionals qualified by the intensive hemato-oncology nursing program. Nursing team members are experts in chemotherapy and the administration of blood products, as well as all other activities required in the complex care of the acute hematology patient population.
