The Neuroscience (Brain) Institute
The Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center has a world-renown reputation in the fields of neurology, neurosurgery, and brain research. We host centers of excellence that work collaboratively and in total synergy, using advanced research towards the treatment of neurological diseases, brain cancer, and vascular diseases of the brain. Top experts in the fields of brain research connect with experts in neurosurgery and neurology, working as “one mind”, under one roof, to provide the best possible treatment for our patients.
An estimated 6.8 million people die every year from neurological disorders, among them: brain tumors, strokes, or degenerative diseases of the brain, such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
Without doubt, working in the fields of neurology and neurosurgery is among the greatest challenges in the world’s leading medical institutions. The desire to research the brain and to understand its functionality is always balanced by the desire to offer our patients the best possible treatment, and the one most likely to avoid affecting their long term functionality and quality of life. But, thanks to our donors, we are working to fulfill the needs of tomorrow today by establishing a world-class Brain Research Center.
The goal of the new Institute is to “translate” – to create medical application – of academic research in the field of the brain. This by creating an innovative work environment for treating the patient, in which research findings are combined with advanced medical technology including robots, and a broader understanding of the genetic component of brain research.
Partners in the development of the The Neuroscience Institute will include doctors and researchers who are today leading research, diagnosis, and treatment of functional disorders of the brain and degenerative diseases.
