General Description
The field of reconstructive surgery after weight loss has greatly advanced in recent years as a result of the special challenge presented by those who have lost vast amounts of weight, which necessitated the development of this separate field of plastic surgery.
The Clinic for Reconstructive Surgery and Body Design after Weight Loss treats patients suffering from obesity; those with skin excess remaining after drastic weight loss and the loss of large amounts of fat tissue.
The Clinic offers surgical treatment program to promote their rehabilitation and return to a full and satisfying lifestyle.
This field of plastic surgery is unique in the way it offers patients the opportunity to free themselves from past handicaps, improve their general functioning and become fully active again.
The Clinic works in close cooperation with the Center for the Treatment of Chronic Obesity, and is part of the Department of Plastic Surgery.
What Does the Pre-Treatment Process Include?
Patients interested in the treatment program offered by the Clinic for Reconstructive Surgery and after Weight Loss must undergo a detailed interview. A personal treatment program is suggested, which is generally the last stage of the weight-loss process.
This program is adapted to the physical and medical condition of the patients and to the findings of all examinations and tests. The patients' personal wishes and requirements are also taken into consideration.
The treatment program includes one or more of the following surgical options:
- Abdominal Wall and Back Surgery: Removal of excess skin and liposuction of fat from various areas.
- Breast and Chest: In women breasts are corrected by a combination of various surgeries as needed, including the lifting of drooping breasts, breast enlargement. In contrast, some cases require breast reduction combined with breast lifting. In men, the restoration of the masculine chest involves surgery the male breasts.
- Arms and Thighs: Minimizing circumference, removal of excess skin .
- Face Lifting and Rejuvenation: the correction of drooping skin on the face following weight loss involves the following options: lifting forehead and eyebrows, correction of upper and/or lower eyelids, and lifting and tightening neck.
- Liposuction from various areas of the body: removal of skin folds and excess skin.
Special Requirements
Patients are required to submit a financial guarantee of payment from their health fund (Form No. 17) or pay the sum of NIS 176 in cash.
