The multi-disciplinary team of oncologists, hematologists, radiologists, orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, microsurgeons, plastic surgeons, and pathologists at the Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center's Oncology Institute provides comprehensive treatment for a wide range of cancers.

With treatments that integrate state-of-the-art chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgery, and cell therapy, TASMC specialists treat:

Orthopedic Oncology

For treating the range of musculoskeletal cancers, the Medical Center features the only orthopedic oncology department in Israel, and one of only a handful in the world.

Over 90% of all newly diagnosed orthopedic oncology cases in Israel, both benign and malignant are treated by the Medical Center's team of multidisciplinary specialists.

Although the ultimate therapeutic goal is to cure the patient, the orthopedic oncology treatment team also specializes in limb preservation.

The orthopedic oncology service offers sophisticated treatment protocols integrating tumor removal, cryosurgery, bone and limb-preservation/reconstruction surgery, and chemotherapy. As a result, 90 to 95% of TASMC patients with bone or soft tissue tumors are spared limb amputation.

For children, special implants are used to match the length of the reconstructed limb with that of the unaffected limb. As the child grows, these implants can be elongated by remote control.

For targeted therapeutic patient interventions and diagnostic services, including teletherapy, CT simulations, and isotope therapy, the Medical Center uses leading-edge nuclear medicine equipment, such as linear accelerators.


Ophthalmology

The Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center treats patients with a wide variety of eye and vision problems and diseases, performing more than 1,600 eye surgeries a year. Services include:

Organ Transplantation

The Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center is an internationally recognized facility for organ transplantation. The service was the first in Israel to be recognized by Israel's National Medical Council for training surgical residents in transplantation. Due to its outstanding reputation, demand for transplantation services has grown significantly. Since 2000 alone, kidney, liver, and pancreas transplants have more than doubled, to about 500 per year. Multiple-organ transplants are also routinely performed.


Patients receiving transplants and their living donors are supported by a multi-disciplinary team of transplant surgeons, nephrologists, gastroenterologists, transplant coordinators, organ donor coordinators, social workers, and dieticians - all working to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Orthopedic Surgery

The Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center performs more than 2,000 orthopedic surgeries every year, offering a very wide range of treatments for patients needing orthopedic care. Diagnostic and treatment procedures include:
