Egg donation allows conception in women who have no ovaries, no available ova or in whom oocyte quality does not allow the conception of a healthy embryo. It is appropriate for women with congenital lack of ovaries, women who have lost their ovaries because of an illness or a tumor, whose ovaries have ceased to function because of exposure to radiation or chemotherapy, or whose ovaries produce oocytes of low quality due to advanced maternal age, premature menopause or chromosomal aberrations. We also offer egg donation as an option to patients who have failed IVF treatment, in cases where we suspect the reason may be the quality of their oocytes.
At this time, cases of egg donation are limited at the IVF unit because of legislative difficulties.
Surrogate mothers
This arrangement is suitable for patients who have no uterus or whose uterus is incapable of carrying a pregnancy. It allows such parents to conceive a child that is genetically and biologically their own, and to be involved in the pregnancy itself.
Surrogate parenting is conducted at the IVF unit in cooperation with various parenting centers that assist these couples. |
