Overview
The IVF laboratory is one of the largest and most innovative in Israel and in the world. It is equipped with five incubators in which embryos divide under optimal conditions. Two microscopic systems with micromanipulators are available and enable the biologists at the laboratory to inject sperm directly into the oocytes in cases where standard IVF is impractical. The laboratory employs two embryo cryopreservation systems which also used for cryopreservation of cells and tissue, and embryo / oocyte preservation "banks" with advanced monitoring systems. Beginning recently, laser equipment is employed for microsurgical procedures: isolation of a single cell from an 8-cell embryo in order to perform pre-implantation genetic analysis. A quality control system monitors all lab equipment.
In additional to the clinical laboratory, a Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) laboratory headed by Ms. Mira Malkov, PhD works in cooperation with the Genetic Institute at our medical center to perform genetic analysis on embryos. In addition, the IVF unit maintains a research laboratory geared towards the development and implementation of additional innovative technologies.

Our biologists' professional skills and experience, the tight cooperation between the laboratory services and the medical and nursing staff and the unmediated relationship the lab team maintains with the couples - all contribute to the success of the fertility treatments at our unit.
