The Sperm Bank

The sperm bank at the medical center provides national sperm banking services and operates under a ministry of Health license.

Who can donate sperm?

Sperm donors are healthy young men who fulfill strict Ministry of Health criteria, including a personal interview and certain blood tests (HIV, STD's, Tay Sachs etc). Once a donor is found to be compatible, a sperm sample is taken and cryopreserved.

Who are sperm donor samples used for?

Sperm donor recipients are married or single women who's only resort for achieving pregnancy is the sperm banking service.

Donor anonymity

In Israel, sperm donations are completely anonymous. Each sample is kept under a numerical code with guaranteed confidentiality. Unlike other countries, it is illegal to disclose the donor's identity when offspring reach adulthood.
