General Description

There are 12 delivery rooms at the Lis Hospital which are the most beautiful and well-equipped in Israel. Each delivery room is private and designed in warm colors

In each room there is an en-suite shower and toilet, a state-of-the-art delivery bed, an armchair for the birth partner, television, stereo and baby-care equipment.  This all combines to give every woman a homely and comfortable feeling during the birth. In addition, a number of "home" birthing rooms offer the opportunity of giving birth with no medical intervention. All delivery rooms enable natural births.

Adjacent to the delivery rooms are two operating theaters dedicated to Caesarian sections (emergency and elective) and a recovery unit with 5 emergency beds. In addition, there are two units for neonatal intensive care, as necessary.

The delivery rooms are manned by gynecologists 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  There are always one or two senior doctors on duty in addition to midwives and anesthetists for women wanting epidurals.

The delivery rooms at Lis allow every woman to choose the birth method most suited to her, both in terms of pain relief and birthing position (side, back, squatting, sitting, etc.).  This is, of course, on condition that she has no medical contraindications.

The midwives are trained in a number of methods of relaxation and pain relief, such as movement, aqua-therapy (there are special baths in the delivery rooms), aromatic massage, TENS, etc. Women may choose to receive an epidural immediately on request, on condition that the progress of delivery allows it.

The Lis Hospital uses the EpiKal method that gives women the much-needed pain relief but enables them to control and be involved in the progress of their delivery. The technique is very similar to an epidural, except for the concentration of the injected anesthetic substance. Women can move around, without feeling pain.
