Main description
The Institute for Preventive Cardiology at the Tel Aviv Medical Center provides under one roof various treatments for rehabilitation as well as primary and secondary prevention of heart disease in patients and in healthy individuals who can be categorized in a high-risk group. The prevention and rehabilitation program for heart disease consists of medical consultation and follow up together with physical activity under constant medical supervision in the modern, sophisticated sports center.

The program is specifically designed for the following groups of individuals:
  • Patients after myocardial infarction,
  • Patients after coronary artery bypass graft,
  • Patients diagnosed with a cardiovascular disease, who have not suffered from myocardial infarction or acute heart attack, with the aim of preventing complications of the disease,
  • Patients who have suffered from myocardial infarction in the past who want to prevent its recurrence,
  • Young, healthy individuals who are in a high risk group for heart disease (such as family history, high blood pressure, hyperlipemia, diabetes, smoke.)

The prevention and rehabilitation program is comprised of two stages: the first stage includes controlled physical activity aimed at returning the patient to normal daily activity, education and instruction about heart disease and psychological support as needed. The second stage includes identifying and treating risk factors for heart disease. This stage continues the program of physical activity and the return to normal daily life including social and vocational activity.

The institute has a multi-disciplinary staff consisting of cardiologists, exercise physiologists, cardiac care nurses, dietician, psychologist, sexologist and social worker.
