Main description
The Department of Internal Medicine A of the Tel Aviv Medical Center treats a wide range of patients. Most of the patients hospitalized have been admitted via the Emergency Room for urgent care. There are also patients admitted on an elective basis from various hospital clinics for comprehensive work-up.

The department specializes in the treatment of heart diseases, cardio vascular diseases, congestive heart failure, hypertension, renal diseases, kidney and pancreas transplantation and immunologic diseases.

The department provides consultation for patients hospitalized in general surgery and gynecology departments, and who may be transferred as needed for continued care.

The department features an intensive treatment room for patients requiring intensive care. The room has seven beds and equipment including monitors and respiratory ventilators. The department has 38 beds in 14 rooms, each room having adjacent bathroom and shower facilities. Rooms may have one, two or three beds and are well supplied with modern equipment. The department treats between 250 - 300 patients per month. The medical team consists of a medical director, two assistant directors, two senior physicians and 6 residents. The nursing staff consists of a head nurse, assistant head nurse, orientation nurse, registered nurses and others.
