Overview: The Neonatal Neurology Service at Dana Children's Hospital, evaluates and treats infants referred to our program due to birth asphyxia, perinatal stroke, cerebral hemorrhage, cerebral infections, hydrocephalus, neonatal seizures, intrauterine growth retardation, plagiocephaly, brachial plexus injury, and various congenital malformations.
Our mission is early identification of neurologic and developmental disturbances and rapid intervention and initiation of appropriate care.
Infants are evaluated by an experienced neonatal neurologist and a specially trained physical therapist.
Our service cares for infants and children, aged 0-3 years, and we work together with the families, primary care providers, well baby clinics and child development centers in the community.
The service evaluates the infant’s needs for physical, occupational, speech, and psycho-developmental therapy and refers him/her to other specialty services as required.
