Main description
The Liver Unit of the Gastroenterology Institute treats all problems and diseases of the liver, including clinical care, research and instruction. The unit is comprised of the General Liver Clinic and specialized clinics such as the Liver Transplant Clinic, the Fatty Liver Clinic, the Liver Cancer Clinic, the Hepatitis Clinic and the newly opened Clinic for Cirrhosis of the Liver including portal hypertension.
The unit coordinates care with the Unit for Liver Surgery and Transplantation, the General Intensive Care Unit, the Radiology Institute, the Pathology Institute and the hospitalization departments of the hospital. The unit works closely with the Liver Department of the Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City and our resident physicians receive their specialty training there.
