This center conducts interdisciplinary research of human brain structure and function, using imaging noninvasive techniques, such as diffusion, perfusion, and spectroscopic MRI. Current research projects of the center focus on behavioral diseases and cognitive functions, brain function and organization - vision and language, as well as on the development of clinical applications for advanced diagnosis of neurological disorders, like epilepsy, MS, and Alzheimer disease. The research projects are based on collaboration between physicians from neurology, neurosurgery, pediatrics, radiology and psychiatry, with scientists from various disciplines, including neurobiology, chemistry, computers, & physics, mainly from Tel Aviv University and the Weizmann Institute of Science. The experimental tools are based on fMRI (1.5 and 3.0 TESLA MRI). In the short time since establishment, the Center has received peer-review scientific acclaim, both by publications in scientific papers and grants. The Ministry of Science has awarded the Center significant grants, as a center of experimental expertise in brain imaging, to facilitate and lead inter-institutional research. TASMC has recently signed a collaboration agreement with Tel Aviv University for advancing brain imaging research.
The director of the research lab is Dr. Talma Hendler
