The Nursing Department of the Tel-Aviv Medical Center is a full partner, initiator and facilitator of many unique projects that are carried-out among the professional staff and among the patients.

“Introduce Yourself” - Guidance for staff on appropriate professional behavior.

Coping with Pressure – Support group and guidance on coping with anger, aggression and more.

Respiratory Monitoring – Workshop on treatment of the intubated patient, part of the specialty training course on Respiratory Care, in conjunction with the department that treat intubated patients.

Monitoring Pain after Surgery – Performed on a daily basis by O.P., C.P. and by various departments that are assimilating and utilizing this system of care.

Staff Satisfaction Project – For a period of one year, statistics were collected that indicated the primary factors that either contribute or detract from staff satisfaction. As a result of these findings, general and specific measures have been taken to address identified problems.

Promoting Quality in Nursing – In a number of departments, teams have been set-up to promote quality as a part of training workshop for quality coordinators. For the summation of the workshop, a competition has been planned to determine the prize-winning quality team.

Over the Counter (O.T.C.) Project – As part of the effort to expand the role of registered nurses, a program has been developed for training, overseeing and licensing of the administration of over- the – corner medications.

Project for Renforcing Emergency Room Staff during Crisis Events -
In order to considerably enlarge the available staff of the Emergency Room during crisis events, a project has been enacted to train a large number of nurses to reinforce the regular staff during times of need.

Patient Support Group in Conjunction with Social Services
There are approximately 30 different Support groups, particularly for ambulatory patients.

Staff Support Groups – There are various support groups for staff including nursing, transporter and x-ray staff.

Computerization of the Labor and Delivery Department
The Labor and Delivery Department is computerizing their records to include all stages of the care process from admission through discharge of the expecting mother. The staff has received intensive, supportive training in the use of these computers.

Computerized Medical and Nursing Charts – Several general, in-house departments are involved in the development and implementation of the pilot program to computerize medical charts. The staff of these departments are currently being trained in the use and integration of the program.

Computerized Equipment Supply – The use of a computerized stock closet of supplies is being piloted in the General Surgery Department. The pilot study will be completed shortly and the findings will be assessed.

Retired Nurses Club – The club sponsors periodic meetings that promote updates in nursing care, enrichment of knowledge and social bonding.
