Q.What are the possibilities for advancement in Nursing at the hospital?
A . The Tel-Aviv Sourasky Medical Center is currently in a stage of
expansion, growth and development. As a direct result of this, new opportunities are being created for professional advancement of new specialties for the nursing staff.
Q. What is the Nursing policy regarding professional development?
A . We believe that the most important resource is the nurse and
therefore we invest any efforts and resources into the orientation and training of the new nurse, in the professional advancement of each
nurse in pinpointing and developing professional career potential, and encouraging various educational opportunities, assisting with tuition and especially into creating a work environment that is pleasant, flourishing and interesting.
Q. What are my rights as an employee?
A . In regard to employee rights, we are no different than other public hospitals.
The hospital is obligated by wage agreement of the Nurses Union and
Treasury and carries them out completely. As municipal we are entitled
to a number of additional benefits and thus enjoy the rights
of two worlds – as state employees and as municipal employees.
The major advantage is the “open” door policy that each employee,
at any time, can meet with a Nursing Personnel Coordinator for
clarification of benefits and for help in every issue; very professional
and very personal. Particulars of employee rights are presented in
detail at the annual meeting for new nurses part of the orientation process.
Q. Are there special benefits of being a nurse at the Medical Center?
A. Because we place a strong emphasis on education and professional
development, we adopt a “helping hand” policy regarding our special
benefits. Every relevant course and training program is approved and
receives substantial financial support. As we are essentially municipal
employees, we receive additional benefits such as budgetary pension
plans, raise in seniority status upon retirement, extra pay for
recognized holiday shifts, more optional paid days off
(“personal days”), and discount municipal facilities.
Q.Which rights transfer from other hospitals to the Medical Center?
A .You are entitled to transfer with seniority (but not job position),
years of professional experience and recognized academic degree.
If you previously worked for a government – based hospital, than
your study fund and health plan will transfer with you. Your retirement
benefits and pension from a previous place of employment will
be frozen and will be transferred when you receive tenure status.
Q. Is there housing for nurses?
A. The Tel-Aviv Medical center is located in the heart of Tel-Aviv.
Working at the Medical Center has many advantages for the young
nurse : nightlife, transportation, services… For nurses working
full-time and who are interested in housing, we assist with rental payment.
For single nurse there is the possibility of residing in rental apartments
sponsored by the hospital and in Nursing School dormitories. |
