Peripheral Nerve Reconstruction - Unit
DirectorDr. Shimon Rochkind

Main description
The unit of Peripheral Nerve Reconstruction treats patients suffering from injuries to peripheral nerves, the brachial plexus and to the cauda equine resulting from motor/ vehicle accidents, works related accidents, sports injuries, gunshot wounds and stabbing.

The unit treats patients suffering from tumors of the peripheral nerves, brachial plexus and cauda equine. The division also performs surgeries to release nerve roots from scar tissue resulting from previous surgical intervention on the spine.

The surgeries are performed using advanced microsurgical techniques to release and reconstruct injured nerves and plexus or to perform nerve bypasses.

Reconstruction of injured nerves, using these techniques, promotes a return to a better quality of life. These advanced techniques and their results have been recognized internationally and are presented in conferences and professional journals around the world.

The patients are referred to the division from around the country and form around the world.

The division works in coordination with many other departments, such as orthopedics, orthopedic-oncology, ear - nose and throat, general surgery, pediatric orthopedics and general surgery.

Primary services offered by the division:
  • Release and reconstruction of peripheral nerves in the hand and foot;
