Main description
The Department of Ambulatory Surgery of the Tel Aviv Medical Center treats patients needing ambulatory surgery or surgical procedures that require a brief period of hospitalization of one to three days. The department comprises an anesthesia unit, a unit for admission and recovery, a pre-anesthesia clinic, a high-risk pre-anesthesia clinic, a pre-surgery clinic and a clinic for cytology examinations. The department has seven operating rooms and performs approximately 7000 surgeries per year. Approximately 2500 patients are seen in the pre-anesthesia clinic a year and an additional 500 patients are treated in the high-risk pre-anesthesia clinic.
