RESEARCH ACTIVITY

Research in the regulation of human fertility is an intensive topic of basic and applicative science. Our Institute, under my supervision, devotes most of its efforts to the study of physiology of the male reproductive tract in animals and in humans.
Several topics are under investigation:
1. Physiology and pathophysiology of male fertility.
2. Control of sperm functions.
3. Human hemizona assay (HZA) for assessment of sperm binding and fertilization capacity.
4. Male contraception.
5. Azoospermia and genetic control of male fertility.
6. Immunohistochemistry of the testis.
7. Genetic regulation of spermatogenesis.
Due to year 2006 190 peer reviewed papers and 11 chapters were published. About 200 abstracts were presented in national and international conventions.
