Main description The in-house Cardiology Unit diagnoses and treats patients suffering from acute coronary syndrome (ACS,) myocardial infarction (MI,) congestive heart failure (CHF,) arrhythmias and valve problems.
The unit performs cardiac catheterizations, balloon catheterization using STENT, ultra sound, electro-cardioversion, pacemaker implantation, defibrillator implantation, ablation, and medical management of CHF and of arrhythmias. The unit houses approximately 20 beds.
The nursing staff of the unit gives special instruction to patients and has established a number of support groups for patients and their partners:
Individualized instruction for cardiac patients before discharge;
Patient education before and after defibrillator implantation;
Support groups for patients with defibrillators and their partners;
Individualized discharge instructions regarding self-care for CHF patients and their partners;
Support groups for CHF sufferers and their partners.
