Day Care Psychiatric - Department
DirectorDr. Shaul Schreiber

Main description
The Day Care Psychiatric Department admits patients suffering from various psychiatric disturbances who, due to the relative severity of their conditions cannot be treated in the outpatient setting, yet their condition is not severe enough to necessitate admission to full hospitalization, or patients who were discharged from a psychiatric ward and need rehabilitation before returning to outpatient follow-up. Additionally, the department treats patients suffering from emotional, cognitive, and behavioral disturbances resulting from brain injuries and diseases.

The multi-disciplinary staff of the department uses a combination of various therapeutic techniques and orientations in addition to medical treatments (including intravenous infusion) electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), and individual, family or group psychotherapy, as determined by the treating clinicians.

The department's occupational therapy staff is employing a variety of techniques whose goal is to train, apply and integrate skills and work habits. Other staff members teach creative arts such as bibliotherapy, dance therapy, psychodrama and art therapy.

The skilled, multi-disciplinary staff performs a variety of activities including diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. The department also offers rehabilitation oriented treatment for the chronically ill patient, as needed. Furthermore, the department also may admit a patient for observational purposes, and provide psychiatric evaluations for various needs including referrals from within the Medical Center itself, the rehabilitation division of the defense forces, the National Insurance Institute, legal cases and others.
