Alternative Medicine - Unit
The Unit for Complementary Medicine offers a variety of treatments based upon various specialties of complementary medicine: acupuncture, shiatsu, medicinal herbs, osteopathy, homeopathy, reflexology, feldenkrais, diet and nutrition and other specialties. All treatments are administered by a staff of senior medical clinicians specialized in particular fields of complementary medicine.

An individualized treatment plan is developed for each patient based upon assessment and initial diagnosis by the coordinating physician of the unit. Throughout the duration of treatment, the staff closely follows-up on the medical condition of the patient to ensure delivery of the best medical care possible.

The unit works in conjunction with other clinics of the Tel Aviv Medical Center, thus offering treatment that combines conventional and complementary care:
  • The Ophthalmology Clinic – A staff of experience clinicians provides care under the supervision of an ophthalmologist. Treatments include eye care for allergic reactions, dry eye, glaucoma, high intraocular pressure and other ophthalmic problems.
  • The Pulmonary Institute – After a thorough work-up and assessment, a plan of care is developed and coordinated to include both conventional and complementary methods for treating chronic cough, asthma, and for cessation of smoking.
  • The Maxillo-Facial Clinic – Dentists trained in chinese medicine coordinate an individualized treatment plan and follow-up on the patient’s condition during every stage of care. The clinic treats muscle and nerve pain in the face and jaw, general pain, facial ticks, problems with opening the jaw, temporal-mandibular joint disorders, post-surgical pain and other dental problems.
  • Obstetrics and Gynecology – Clinical specialists from the Unit for Complementary Medicine provide care under full medical supervision during the duration of treatment. Treatment is given for urogynecological problems (urinary frequency and dribbling caused by various factors,) sexual dysfunction (vastibulitis, dysphronia,) pain and other disturbances in the monthly menstruation, fertility, menopause, and other conditions.
