Main description The Clinic for Infant, Child and Adolescent Dentistry is comprised of two sub-clinics: one clinic for infants ranging in age from newborn to three years, and a second clinic for children and adolescents.
The clinic for infants diagnoses and assesses risk factors for dental caries, beginning with the eruption of the first tooth (between age 6 to 12 months,) and gives instruction and guidance to parents regarding dental hygiene, nutrition and fluoride supplements, and explanation on preventing habits that may cause long term dental problems. Dentists of the clinic also treat injuries to milk teeth. Injuries that are not treated readily and speedily may cause irreversible damage in the future.
The Child and Adolescent Dental Clinic provides preventive, maintenance and orthodontic dental care. Treatments are given with consideration to the characteristic problems of the different age groups. The clinic provides special dental care for children suffering from congenital heart defects, congenital defects of the face and skull, cleft lip and palate, and from various systemic and crippling diseases.
