Diagnosis of Fetal Heart Defects - Clinic
The Unit for Diagnosis of Fetal Heart Defects performs special, noninvasive prenatal examinations to check for heart defects during the first stages of pregnancy. This examination is gravely important as it is performed in the 20th week of pregnancy, and sometimes in the 19th week, in order to allow for termination of the pregnancy, as necessary.

The examination uses ultra sound to assess the fetal heart. It is advised to perform the examination for women who themselves have a heart defect or have a familial history of heart defect, women who suffer from diabetes, women with a genetic disease or, alternatively, when there is suspected heart defect in the fetus detected during fetal scanning, defects noted in other body systems, overabundance or under abundance of amniotic fluids.
