Main description
The Pediatric Advanced Surgery department treats a wide variety of surgical problems: hernias, undescended testes, problems with the trachea, abdomen, thorax and more.

The department treats children who suffer from congenital defects that have been diagnosed prenatally, such as diaphragmatic hernia, congenital esophageal constrictures, congenitally blocked duodenum, congenital respiratory defects and other congenital conditions. The department treats children suffering from surgical diseases such as inflammatory intestinal diseases and gallstones, and from acute problems such as intestinal occlusion and inflammation of the cecum, peritoneal cavity or the scrotal sack.

The department is comprised of three senior physicians, two medical residents and 17 registered nurses. Each year the department admits approximately 600 children and performs some 600 surgeries. Approximately 1500 children are treated in the outpatient clinic a year.
