The institute for male fertility is involved in several categories of treatment:
Couples with male infertility
Cryopreservation of sperm in men with personal or health issues
Treatment of women without partners, or couples, requiring the services of the sperm bank.
Couples with male infertility
Fertility work up will be done on both partners, with special attention to the male partner's health and fertility.
Personal interview, detailed physical examination, blood tests and sperm analysis will be performed, with additional tests as necessary.
A diagnosis will be made, and treatment options will be discussed. Treatment can be medical, surgical or may involve ovulation induction with sperm preparation in the laboratory and intrauterine insemination.
Cryopreservation of sperm
Men may require cryopreservation because of exposure to drugs that may interfere with sperm production, such as chemotherapy or radiation, or for personal reasons. These men will be interviewed, physical examination and other tests will be performed as necessary, and sperm cryopreservation will be adjusted to sperm quality and the goals of treatment.
Women or couples requiring sperm bank services
Women requiring donor insemination will be interviewed and examined, and sperm will be selected according to personal preferences and availability.
Patients will undergo treatment as appropriate for their fertility status, by natural cycle or ovulation induction, and donor insemination. If pregnancy is not achieved by these means, IVF treatment will be offered.
