The unit works in cooperation with the Gastroenterology Institute and the Oncology Institute of the Tel Aviv Medical Center. The unit performs surgeries for benign diseases of the esophagus including achalasia and diaphragmatic hernia. The unit is specialized in multi-disciplinary treatment of malignant tumors of the esophagus and stomach including oncological treatments and experimental treatments. The unit performs oncological surgeries to excise the esophagus in cases of tumors and rehabilitates patients after these surgeries.
