DirectorDr. Solomon Shneibaum

Main description
The Unit for Radio-Isotopic Guided Surgery is specifically designated for patients who suffer from recurrent colon cancer, colon cancer with metastasis to the abdominal cavity, breast cancer with lymph node involvement, melanoma, or tumors of the parathyroid gland.

The unit performs radio-isotopic guided surgeries utilizing portable gamma rays designed to locate tumors and their boundaries, thus enabling complete excision. A radioactive marker that attaches itself to the tumor and sentinel lymph node is injected, locating the tumor and node during the surgery.

The RIGS system is particularly appropriate for treating colon cancer, excision of the sentinel node, breast cancer, melanoma, and for surgeries of both benign and malignant tumors of the parathyroid gland.
