Main description
The Center for Breast Health of the Tel Aviv Medical Center is a multi-disciplinary center comprised of surgeons, oncologists, plastic surgeons, pathologists, cytologists and radiologists that offers comprehensive care for breast cancer patients. Uniting the various specialists under one roof enables timely decision-making regarding appropriate treatment and delivery of care. The center provides diagnostic tests using advanced imaging techniques, such as mammography and ultrasound, consultation, conservative treatment and surgery using advanced techniques such as identifying the sentinel node - a technique that allows for the selective excision of the sentinel node as identified using gamma rays and thus sparing the need to excise healthy lymph nodes.
The center provides consultation and support before and after surgery, patient instruction regarding the stages of surgery and subsequent care, support groups and psychological counseling to aid in adapting to routine life. Routine examinations and follow up are conducted at the center's outpatient clinic.
The center maintains close contact with similar research and information organizations around the world and participates actively in the Cancer Association.
